KITOXAN®
The first natural library of venom fractions for Drug Discovery
and High Throughput Screening (HTS).

A Unique Collection

KITOXAN® is a unique library of venom fractions available in 96-well plates for Discovery research and medicinal biochemistry.

Venoms have been first cleared from molecules over 8.500 Da (cytotoxic enzymes). On the basis of its HPLC chromatogram each venom has been split up in 20 fractions.

Each fraction is expected to contain 5 to 10 peptides at a ~10 µmolar total concentration in average in 100µl. Separation of peptides on HPLC basis makes easier the identification of the active peptide once a hit is detected.

Each well-plate is filled with 4 venoms, 80 fractions, and about 500 different peptides in total.

New molecules for Drug Discovery
Most molecules from venoms are still unknown.
Venoms have been cleared from enzymes and peptides separated for an easier hit detection

Over 2500 natural molecules
400 freeze-dried fractions generated by chromatographic separation from 20 different venoms.
No cytotoxic enzymes (molecules over 8.500 Da have been withdrawn).
400 - 800 molecules per plate in 80 wells, 5 to 10 peptides per well,
~10 μmolar total concentration on average in 100 μl.

High therapeutic potential
Venom peptides have been selected by Nature over hundreds of millions of years for their highly specific activity on a wide variety of pharmacological targets: nervous system, muscle, hemostasis, kidneys, heart, blood circulation, ion channels…

Several have undergone clinical development in the fields of cancerology, pain relief, diabetology, hematology, cardiology, multiple sclerosis.
